JANUARY 2014
On January 13, 2014, board members Leonora Barron, Trey Baskett, Norma Kachigian, Betty Huebner, Greg Ramirez, Jose Rodriguez, and Keith Rice welcomed Dr. Mark Wild and his “Public History and Community Engagement” class to the Museum of Social Justice. This is the second year CSULA in collaboration with the Museum of Social Justice has offered the seminar class, which explores the civic role of history in nonacademic settings. The course is a capstone of the undergraduate history major program at CSULA.
The students were very inspired by the Museum story. In an email to Professor Wild one student wrote:
“I would just like to express my gratitude towards you, the CSULA history department and those on the board of directors at the museum for allowing us to participate in this amazing experience tonight. Their stories, passion and commitment truly expresses the importance of history to society. If at all possible I would love the opportunity to actively participate in the museum as a part of this course.”

On March 10, 2014 members of the board of directors went to California State University, Los Angeles for the student’s presentations of their ideas and recommendations for possible exhibitions.
